This
month’s highlighted condition: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
A TBI is an injury to the brain that may cause permanent or
temporary impairment of thinking, moving, and interacting with others. It
often results from a non-penetrating blow or jolt to the head or body and is
a serious health issue. According to the CDC, there was an estimated 2.5
million reported TBIs ranging from “mild” to “severe” cases in 2010 alone.
Common symptoms following an accident include headaches, tiredness,
difficulty sleeping, sensitivity to light, difficulty focusing, moodiness, and
memory loss; all of which may cause severe disruptions in activities of daily
living.
Hyperbaric Medicine can help reduce the symptoms of TBI and
give the brain an opportunity to heal itself by reducing swelling and
hyper-oxygenating the entire body. Many patients report complete reversal of
their symptoms. If you, or someone you know has sustained a TBI, please call
us for more information!
